In a study conducted and published in the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health in 2008, found that when MCT oil is consumed as part of a weight loss plan, it helped to improve weight loss results compared to using olive oil. This study was conducted with the help of 49 men and women who were overweight between the ages of 19 and 50. This group consumed MCT oil compared to olive oil over a 16-week period.

Help lower cholesterol levels naturally

MCT oil can actually help to keep cholesterol levels low, which can go a long way in reducing the risk of coronary heart disease. Another study conducted and published in the U.S. National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health in 2018 found that MCT oil helped to slow down increases in body weight, helped to promote bile acid excretion, lowered serum cholesterol levels via bile acid absorption and helped to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.

Helped to keep the body slim in the first place

A study conducted in 2017 was published in the U.S. National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health found that when MCT oil was given to rodents during weaning, it helped to build a programmed resistance to being obese later on in adulthood. It was also found that MCT oil helped to safeguard metabolic development and overall health as the rodents matured.

The bottom line is this: while there have been plenty of studies conducted on MCT oil to support its benefits, most of these studies have produced inconsistent and contradictory results. While it is true that MCT oil does have a variety of benefits that could help aid in weight loss, this only works when MCT oil is consumed in moderation.

The answer is: yes, they can. But not alone.
